Recent reports show that 1 in 3 school-aged children will be bullied this year. That’s a lot of bullying!
So what can you do to make sure your child (or anyone you care for) isn’t bullied?
First of all, it’s important to note that bullies have low self-esteem…And the kids they bully or pick on also tend to have low self esteem.
In fact, a bullying interaction can only take place between two people who both have some sort of issue with low self-esteem. The interaction simply doesn’t ‘work’ if one of the people involved has healthy self-esteem. That’s because people with healthy self-esteem don’t bully other people nor do they respond in a way that ‘emotionally feeds’ bullies when a bully tries to bully them.
Let’s explain: The bullying interaction requires at least two players. If just one of the players involved has healthy self-esteem, then the interaction doesn’t play out in a way that would be classified as “bullying” as we know it.
Why? Because a kid with healthy self-esteem doesn’t “let” other kids bully him or her. He or she simply won’t react in a way that will keep the bully returning for more….
Put simply, a kid with healthy self-esteem doesn’t give bullies the emotional / psychological satisfaction they need to keep coming back for more.
So, how can you keep your kid from being bullied?
Simple: just make sure your child has healthy self-esteem.
But, how can you make sure your kid has healthy self-esteem?
Simple: just teach your child the principles of Rational OptimismTM.
Why?
Well, according to the ideas of Rational OptimismTM this world is lawfully organized and purpose-driven. This includes: you, your children, and even bullies.
Everything that exists serves a positive and beneficial function designed to serve you and your Creator.
When you and your children know that all events and occurrences are unfolding in accordance with the perfect design of a loving God-Creator, potentially stressful events like, encountering bullies for instance, are understood as opportunities for growth.
You and your children begin to look for the benefits and opportunities for growth in all occurrences. This means that you grow toward greater ‘godlikeness’ (power, harmony, creativity, love, etc).
And to be godlike is to have more than healthy self-esteem…it’s to be so powerful, both inside and out, that you (and your kids) inevitably say and do precisely what’s needed so they’re never bullied at school…ever.
But, even more, you/your children have the wisdom that enables you all to say and do precisely what’s needed to make the bully him/herself NOT want to be a bully anymore!
That’s the power of Rational OptimismTM…for both children & adults! Learn more about its principles in this book.

Bullying Requires Non-Education Professionals Bullying requires non-education professionals to step in.Unfortunately, education professionals , as experienced as theyare and have to be with education-related matters, do not havethe know-how or experience needed to deal with radicallyuncontrolled bullying. However, there are police (men and women), psychologists (men and women), and therapists (men and women) who are not in the business of education; but who are trained to deal with the deviant behavior expressed by a true bully. A 1-800 number for bully victims that is easy to remember should be plastered everywhere in schools from the classrooms to the halls to the restrooms to the playgrounds to the busses and athletic fields as gentle reminders to students thinking of getting out of line (bullying). This no-nonsense number would direct the bully victim to immediate help by trained plrsefsionaos who will evaluate professionally the bully’s mental health and stable or unstable home situation; deal with the bully’s deviant behavior; and help the bully victim through the merciless trauma/abuse he/she experienced all without repercussions to the actual victim. Of course, legal action and prosecution against the bully (not the school) go without saying. As an added incentive, the school administration may dial the number from the school office. Often, but not always, the bully is a repeat offender. Reporting the crime helps authorities build a case against said bully in court holding the bully accountable for his/her actions.
Absolutely Helen. Bullying is a very serious issue…both the bullied and the bully have a great deal to learn from the situation as a whole. As humanity progresses bullying will eventually be a thing of the past…it’s already rather outdated given today’s knowledge etc…
Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is a really well written article. I will be sure to bookmark it and return to read more of Keep Your Kid from Being Bullied | The One World Initiative . Thanks for the post. I’ll definitely return.
the reason why they pick on the pesron they pick on is because they may feel threatened by them or insecure. they figure that by verbally abusing that person, their self esteem gets lower so then the bully would feel better about themselves. or if they are insecure they would beat down the pesron physically, emotionally, or veribally so when they see that person is getting weaker/ affected by the bullys action, they feel better about themselves and gain a false high self esteem. people in the workforce always deal with the stress of the job especially one that is competitive. they feel like thier workforce is the survior of the fittest and that they have to destory whoever is in thier way. ( bullying the person they feel is working better, or the popular nice one).
